[music] >>DEAN O'CONNELL: When students come to the College of Visual and Performing Arts, they can expect to study with consummate professionals. Professional musicians, theatre professionals, professional artists, people who have careers so that they are having a real world experience in the classroom with people who know what's happening in the current trends within their industry and within their disciplines. I think what most excites me about the College of Visual and Performing Arts right now is the concerted effort by all of our faculty and our administration to take our learning beyond our classrooms. For example, our recent trip to Europe with fifty-five musicians. Fifteen artists went to Italy and studied there. Our photographers went to Panama. Our popular music students went to London. Beyond graduation, our students do a plethora of interesting things. Many of them go to graduate school. We have a lot of students who sign up with graphic design firms, interior design firms. Many of our Theatre students after graduation go on to regional theatres in Chicago and New York and Nashville and other large cities. We instill in them a love of their artform for a lifelong experience. [music]
